The IRS has extended the date for individuals to file and to pay federal income taxes from April 15, 2021 to May 17, 2021. There will be no penalties for late payments or late filing so long as taxpayers get their returns filed by the new filing date. Taxpayers do not need request this extension, it will be granted automatically.
